Swarovski has collaborated with fashion designer Jason Wu, to create the Swarovski Elements embellished Resort 2013 collection, and a new behind-the-scenes video that takes a peek into the designer’s atelier.

In the collection, naturalistic elements and intricate embroideries are represented with insect and flower motifs created with Swarovski Elements. The crystals were incorporated to complement the stunning collection’s vibrant colour palette; a colourful series of Swarovski crystal flowers on black and white dresses, and crystal insects on shoes are prominent features of the collection.

Reflecting on his inspiration behind the Resort 2013 collection, Wu comments on man-made nature, and “mechanical” bugs inspired by artist Mike Libby that adorn his creations: “For the resort collection, I was inspired by two things: the idea of a man-made nature mixed with the elegance of 60′s couture shapes. I used Swarovski Elements to create “mechanical” bugs that also bring to mind 60′s fine jewellery”.

The designer came to everyone’s attention when Michelle Obama wore one of his gowns to the presidential inauguration ceremony in 2009. Since then he’s made garments for Emma Stone, Michelle Williams, and January Jones to name but a few Hollywood celebrities.
